Product Review: Kiko Milano Lasting Gel Eyeliner
Today I’m going to put a product review instead of those heavy-weight scientific skin related discussions.
A few months back I bought this product called Kiko Milano Lasting Gel Eyeliner from www.nykaa.com .
As it sounds, it is a gel eyeliner & I’m a serious fan of gel eyeliners due to its flexibility of application. Unlike pen liners, you can simply change your applicator brush & control the thickness of the lines you draw & gel liners tend to be longer lasting than pen liners.
Before buying this, I was a user of Loreal Paris Gel Intenza & I must say, I was quite satisfied with it. But it expired & I had to buy a new black gel liner & then I found this. Its not long Kiko has been launched in India & I have to acknowledge I’m quite impressed with them.
Currently I’m obsessing with anything from Kiko not because it’s #major right now but because of its awesome quality. So here goes my verdict.
This Kiko Milano Gel Liner comes in a cutesy packaging. The glass bottle resides inside a tiny black paper cover which reads its ingredients & other details.
The ingredients list looks like this: Isododecane, Mica, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Polyethylene, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Octyldodecanol, Disteardimonium hectorite, Tribehenin, Acrylates/Dimethicone Copolymer, Propylene Carbonate, Iron Oxides.
Now to read the above ingredients, it took me a lot because the letters are so tiny, to match the packaging.
Coming to the point of product, it lasts real long; like it was manufactured on 9/2018 & is going to expire on 4/2021 which is absolutely fantastic because I’ve never completely finished a product like this (gel liners) before I had to throw out because it expired. Two of my previous Loreal gel liners had been disposed as such, so a long shelf life is something I give the most priority & this scores awesome here.
Secondly the fact that I have a horribly oily skin & it worsens in the humid Indian summer, so no product lasts long on my face but this time, it made an exception. This gel liner is a godsend to those with my skin type & it’d easily last all day & you never have to go for touch ups.
Some gel liners tend to crack like that one from Maybelline it looks gross after a few hours & this Kiko gel liner even beats it here. It’d not fade, it would not smudge & it would never crack.
The best part of this is, this liner is probably the deepest black among all gel liners currently available in the market. I was quite satisfied with my Loreal one until I met Kiko. This is atleast 6 shades darker than Maybelline & atleast 3 shades darker than Loreal gel liner. Even the darkest shade available from Bobbi Brown doesn’t even come close to this wonderful darkest dark.
It doesn’t look cheap & semi-dark. That’s my biggest point.
Secondly consistency wise its really thin, unlike all other brands which are thick & balm-like, so its even easier for a beginner to work with. But the only downside (really????) could be that it dries in a jiffy. So if you mess up, you need to be real quick in removing it before it sets in. I’d suggest you to get a q-tip & dip it in micellar water & rub it gently on the exact area you need to work with in case you screw up.
The only downside I found is that it doesn’t come with a brush applicator. But that’s okay because I had my own & those brushes that come with liners are usually too thick to use. Its always better to buy your own.
In India, it costs Rs. 900/- for 6 ml. of product but since I don’t use makeup daily, I’m not sure again if I can finish this bottle even in 3 years. Also the fact that very less amount is needed to draw a precise line because of its thin consistency.
What matters to me is the end result & I’m quite satisfied with it.
So, would I buy Kiko Milano Lasting Gel Liner again?
· Yes ofcourse. From now on, this is my go to black gel liner & I’d love it if Kiko launches the same in different colours.
Pros of the Kiko Lasting Gel liner:
· Excellent colour pay-off. This is the darkest dark gel liner available atleast in the Indian market.
· Long shelf life; almost 3 years.
· Lasts really long; 8 hours atleast on my oily peepers in humid Indian summer.
· Pocket friendly, both size wise (such a tiny bottle), & price wise, Rs. 900/- in India.
· Dries off real quick. This is a disputed point; can give real hard time to beginners.
· Doesn’t crack, smudge or fade.
· Small amount is needed to draw a moderately thick line due to its light whipping cream like consistency.
Cons:
· There’s none unless you consider a free applicator brush a must because it doesn’t come with one.
So that’s all.
